The person who will join the team will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the operation and the overall efficiency of the company’s manufacturing process, whether through the modernization of equipment, the implementation of equipment, the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, investment in process automation, etc.
- Improve manufacturing processes by exploring alternative technologies, materials, or processes.
- Perform Static Process Controls (SPC).
- Develop standard operating procedures and ensure they are followed, training employees as needed.
- Continuously improve existing operations to achieve better quality, greater efficiency, and increased savings.
- Investigate and report operational issues affecting production and product quality.
- Train and lead cross-functional team members focusing on measurable improvements in quality, service, and cost.
- Implement a formal Six Sigma program that focuses on reducing process and product variation.
- Responsible for managing and leading continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching others on the use of Six Sigma lean manufacturing tools (5S, KPI, SME, VSM and Kaizen).
- Liaise with Quality Control Managers and Production Planner to ensure released products meet specifications, especially material held for ongoing NCP investigations.
- Organize and lead meetings of cross-functional team members to facilitate nonconforming product investigations.
- Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations – i.e., new process equipment, equipment justification to improve performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, polymer or industrial) preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience with Lean Six Sigma or other RCA experience preferred.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Be comfortable working with all levels of the organization.
- Be a good communicator and know how to challenge the status quo.
