Position

The Application & Product Developer will report to the Technical Manager while working together with plant & operations key leaders. The Application & Product Development position will have as main responsibilities the following: daily formulation of dockets, sales & pricing support for new product business opportunities (NPBO), product development, customer technical support, raw material qualification and cost optimization.

Responsibilities
  • Apply continuous improvement and quality tools to define, measure, analyze, improve and control processes such as Pareto diagram, fishbone diagram, flowchart, scatter plot, control graphs, brainstorming, SIPOC, process mapping, PDCA, SWOT analysis, 5W.
  • Promote the benefits and benefits of implementing these methodologies in Balcan's operations.
  • Establish, implement, monitor and report on KPIs related to continuous improvement processes during the project.
  • Identify and communicate critical improvement projects, project scope and schedule, data and information, project benefits
  • Identify the resources and skills (team members) needed to achieve the stated goals and objectives;
  • Lead and coordinate resources and skills to continuously implement and drive change.
  • Identify process inputs and outputs, design a data and information collection plan determine and apply quality and statistical tools to measure process performance.

Requirements
  • Min. 1-3 years’ experience in the plastic industry, ideally in film or packaging
  • Engineer degree (Industrial, Chemical or equivalent industry experience)
  • Fluent in English and French – Oral and written
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and self-starter
  • Good fundamental knowledge of resins, colors, additives
  • Hands-on experience in plastic testing methods
  • Understanding and troubleshooting experience packaging equipment (asset)
  • Knowledge in continuous improvement tools and methodology (asset)
  • Experience and knowledge of extrusion, printing and bag making
